Clearer & Calmer Skin Treatment in Melbourne

Adult breakouts can impact confidence and wellbeing. At Éramai, we use evidence-backed LED light therapy to help calm inflammatory acne and rebuild your skin confidence.

Adult Breakouts – You're Not Alone

Acne does not end at twenty. Hormonal fluctuations, stress, changes in the skin's microbiome and the natural shifts that come with perimenopause mean that breakouts are a reality for many women in their thirties, forties and beyond.

If you have been told you should have grown out of this, you have not been told enough. Adult acne is a physiological reality – one that deserves a sophisticated, considered response.

Why Breakouts & Blemishes Occur at Any Age

Adult breakouts are typically driven by hormonal changes that increase sebum production, disruptions to the skin's microbiome, stress-triggered inflammation, and in some cases skincare products that are either too occlusive or too stripping for the skin's current state.

Post-acne scarring and hyperpigmentation are common secondary concerns that compound the original issue.
Blue LED wavelengths at approximately 415nm have been shown in clinical studies to reduce Cutibacterium acnes (formerly P. acnes), the bacteria responsible for inflammatory acne, through a photochemical process that destroys the bacteria without harming surrounding tissue. Combined with red light's anti-inflammatory action, this dual-wavelength approach addresses both the bacterial and inflammatory drivers of acne. Results are progressive and cumulative rather than immediate.

How LED Light Therapy Supports Clearer Skin

Blue LED targets breakout-causing bacteria with documented antibacterial action, while Red LED calms inflammation and accelerates the healing of active lesions and post-acne marks.

Though LED cannot resolve hormonal acne at its root, a consistent treatment course meaningfully reduces breakout frequency and severity while supporting ongoing skin recovery.
Blue LED wavelengths have documented antibacterial properties, specifically targeting the bacteria responsible for inflammatory breakouts. Red LED reduces the inflammation that drives acne's visible presentation and supports the healing of active lesions and post-acne marks. LED cannot resolve hormonal acne at its root cause. What it can do, consistently, is meaningfully reduce the frequency and severity of breakouts over a treatment course, and support the skin's recovery between them.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Most clients notice improvement over a consistent course of treatments. Your practitioner will set realistic expectations based on your skin and the severity of your concern.
In many cases, yes, LED therapy can complement a GP or dermatologist-prescribed acne programme. However, certain medications, particularly Roaccutane (isotretinoin), require a pause in LED treatment due to increased skin sensitivity. Always inform your practitioner of any prescription medications before your first appointment so they can advise the safest approach for your skin.
